Grove ladies lose first round cup match against Westcliffe

THE Grove Tennis Club ladies first team slipped out of the Essex Senior Cup after a hard-fought battle with Westcliffe Hard.

Captain Trisha Esplin, and her long standing partner Beth Will, persevered after dropping their first set to claim the second set and win the third set.

Lucy Coe and Susie Harrison were up against it playing the first pair, but did get two games, as the half finished all square.

Esplin and Will maintained a solid performance against a strong first Westcliffe pair, managing to win five games, while Coe and Harrison stepped up to the plate and took the second pair to three sets, narrowly losing in the third set.

All in all, the Grove players put in a very good performance to propel the team into the summer leagues which start next week.
