Magdala secure runners-up spot in Division One

 

MAGDALA Ladies secured runners-up spot behind West Bridgford in the Notts Tennis League Division One following a comfortable win against an under-strength Ilkeston team.

 

But Ilkeston bounced back to beat Woodthorpe to banish any fears of relegation.

Lady Bay and West Bridgford A are relegated.

With one match to play, David Lloyd West Bridgford are promoted from Division Two with the unbeaten Musters team, following a good win at Farnsfield.

Rachel Benning and Carol Drummond won six sets for the loss of only eight games.

Magdala A ended their season with a comfortable win at Attenborough to finish third.

Eve Kersh and Jane Hall took five sets.

In Division 4A, Newark consolidated their second place behind Nottingham Castle, with a win against Attenborough A, and now need a big win in their last match against Ravenshead to take the league.

Lady Bay A beat Mansfield A to move into second place in 4B, behind Wollaton.

Frances Benson and Angela Donald were the top couple for Lady Bay with 4½ sets, while Jan Hodgetts and Jan Parkin took 5½ sets for Mansfield.

Musters B are promoted from 5A, after their home win against Woodthorpe B.

Lisa Harrold and Sue Giles were the top couple with six sets.

The other promotion place is between David Lloyd West Bridgford A and Caunton B.
