Tennis Today has teamed up with specialist tennis club insurance scheme Court Cover to offer tennis clubs a chance to win a year's free insurance.

Court Cover is the brainchild of tennis loving broker Graham Nevett, managing director of insurance brokerage, Nevett and Taylor and is underwritten by Hiscox.

Graham, whose father Michael was a well-respected tennis umpire who officiated at the 1986 Wimbledon final, has insured tennis clubs since 1999. He saw the need for a bespoke tennis club insurance policy as many tennis clubs were choosing general sports club policies which were not tailored to the needs of a tennis club. This meant clubs often paid too much for cover they didn't require or left them under protected for tennis specific courts and equipment.

Court Cover is individually priced based on the size of tennis club and the specific levels of cover required. This makes the scheme highly competitive and covers all the essentials to protect the club you love including buildings and contents; courts, floodlights, fencing and stands; umpire's chairs, nets and tables; plant and machinery; stock and money and business interruption.

One club already to have benefited from Court Cover is Woodside Tennis Club in Cheshire. Treasurer, Dave Norton, said: "You only find out how good your insurance is when you have a serious claim.

"An outbuilding that stored our tennis equipment and machinery was completely destroyed by vandals who set it on fire. Our settlement was made without fuss and we were able to rebuild and replace the equipment quickly.

"Court Cover kept us informed at every stage of the claim and what could have been a disastrous experience was handled with great efficiency."
